The Red Sox faced the first place Padres tonight, a team loaded with two A team all stars, a B team all star, and plenty of other solid ball players. It was a match of the two undefeated teams in the playoffs, and the 13-3 regular season Padres against the 12-4 second place Sox. Neither team had their top pitcher available though, but both pitchers were solid all stars, and the stands were loaded with very vocal, anxious fans on both sides of the plate.

The Sox jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, and looked solidly in command, but the Padres fought back and made it 5-3 in the third as Travis struggled. Coach Edwards decided to go with Jordan to start the fourth. He pitched a solid inning but the Padres scored another run on two errors. The Sox decided they needed to score some runs though and took the lead 7-6 in the 5th. Jordan pitched a great 5th inning was backed up by solid defense and another put out at the plate, this one by Travis (there were two others, both by Jordan) and the neither team scored in the inning. The Sox also failed to score in the top of the sixth and it was up to Jordan and his fielders to hold the lead. The leadoff hitter popped out, the second hitter got on on a single. The next kid hit a squibber to Jordan's right, he fields a spinning top and fires it to first. The kid on second goes for it and Sam guns it to Travis at third for a double play to end the game.
